Our little football fan

I think my dad's only hesitancy about me marrying Colby was that Colby is a University of Utah fan. As a Hales I am not anti-Utah, but definitely a born and raised BYU Cougar fan. After dating and five years of marriage, I think the families have come to terms with our football divided home. However, there is still a lot of teasing and cheering on our teams. Devri was given BYU and Utah clothing before she was even born with hope to convert her to the "correct" side of the rivalry.

As she is getting older the stakes are getting higher. A couple weeks ago Dev was downstairs playing with Colby and she came upstairs so I could do her hair. A little into hair doing she started saying to me (as cute as a 2-year-old can), "go Utah!" "Go Utah!" And eventually it turned into "Go to Utah!" Colby, of course, was downstairs laughing and had been prepping her to come up and tell me "Go Utes!" Thankfully the next week and game day I got my turn since Colby was at scout camp. I dressed Devri in her cougar gear, taught her the fight song, and showed her how to cheer. I sent her ra-ra-raing to Colby at scout camp (see video below) and he was anxious to get home and set things right. Within minutes after daddy got home from scout camp, Dev was in her Utah sweatshirt (over her BYU t-shirt of course). I am at a little bit of a disadvantage since Dev will do whatever to "match" daddy. :) By the end of the day, she had it down. She would yell, "Go cougars, go utes!" Smart girl! We had a fun day teasing and enjoying our sweet girl!
